LeBlanc and Corrigan take Class Co-Presidents; XW Levy fails
/Sandre and Herbert-Robertson win Morning and Afternoon Convocation Speakers, respectively
The results from the Grad Class Speaker and Senior Class Co-Presidents elections and The Xaverian Weekly referendum were finalized by the Students’ Union Marketing Office at 5:30pm this afternoon.
The Xaverian Weekly proved unsuccessful in its bid for a student levy. While a voter turnout of exactly 20 percent was sufficient to legitimate the referendum, a 56 percent “No” vote (542 votes) caused the referendum to fail.
With 379 votes, 39 percent of voters responded in favour of the referendum, while 5 percent (53 votes) spoiled their ballot.
Victoria Sandre was elected as Morning Grad Class Speaker, ahead of Ryley Erickson and Daire Fitzpatrick, while Hannah Herbert-Robertson clinched the Afternoon Grad Class Speaker position, beating out Marie Horgan and Marcel Amirault.
Of the eight pairs that ran for Senior Class Co-Presidents, Rachel LeBlanc and Alex Corrigan proved successful.
The Xaverian Weekly is still confirming the number of votes and percentages for Grad Class Speakers and Senior Class Co-Presidents.
